The Snow Geese Have Arrived

If the frost on the ground and chill in the air isn't an indication that winter is on its way, then the arrival of the snow geese is definitely an indicator.  Every year, around this time of the year, the snow geese arrive from the north.  Their honking calls fill the air, while they scour the fields - eating all sorts.  What makes people, including farmers, really happy is they eat the slugs.  And we have a lot of slugs.

Look at these fat poliwogs... They must have found a lot of slugs.

And this year, there seems to be a lot more younger geese.  See the brownish and greyish geese? Those are the younger ones.  I'm not sure what they're called.... probably something exotic... but their feathers will soon turn the tell-tale color of white.

I have to say, I love it when the snow geese arrive.  Their masses always impress me and seeing them waddle around the fields makes me smile.  Fabulous!

Happy Tuesday!
