Top 5 Favorite CDs...

Do they still call them CDs nowadays? Wow! I didn't realize just how old that question makes me sound.  But since I listen to these bits of music in CD form, and not in their MP3 version - CD it is!

Here goes...

The music on this CD definitely makes up for the hyperbolic gibberish that was the movie.  I saw the movie and thought, "You've got to be kidding me!" But the music... There is the story.  If it were possible to simply mute the dialog and listen to the music, I would have done it.  Instead, I did the next best thing - purchased the soundtrack.  Never regretted it.

Morlocks be damned! I never got the appeal of Guy Pearce - not matter what movie he was in - but I definitely get the appeal of this soundtrack.  Incidentally, the music introducing the Morlocks is far scarier than the actual Morlocks.

Kelly Clarkson earned a lot of hits from this little CD.  However, the true gem - the reason why I clock this CD among one of the my favorites - is the over-looked song, "Beautiful Disaster."  The last song on the CD, Clarkson sings it live with just a piano as accompaniment.  Fab-u-lous!!

Let's face it.  Christina went a bit over the top while promoting this CD.  She basically turned herself into a proud hoochie mama - spouting feminist rhetoric that made even the feminists cringe.  But take away the slutty clothes, the weird black/white hair, and fake bake - and what you have left is what Christina really has to offer:  her voice.  All her music since is over-vocalized yawn fests.  This CD is an original that I doubt she'll ever be able to repeat.
You may not have heard of her, but you should take notice.  Toby Lightman wrote an amazing song called "Sweet Sad Song" that appeared in that lame Hilary Swank/Gerard Butler movie, P.S. I Love You (sorry, Stephanie).  And while that song was fantastic, she has even more songs that are even better.  My favorites on this CD include Everyday, Devils and Angels, and Front Row.  And those are just a few on this CD.  I have all of Toby's CDs, but I think this one shines the brightest.

How about you? What are some of your favorite CDs?  What are the songs you cannot live without?
