Snowy Morning; Spring Afternoon
My little part of the world awoke yesterday morning to the brilliant white of snow. We didn't have much snow - maybe 2 inches - but it was enough to celebrate. Though the schools didn't call a "Snow Day" nor did the city slow down it's pace (not even the city trucks bothered to put sand and/or de-icer on the streets), but I called a Snow Day simply because I wanted to celebrate the snow.
I love it when it snows. The world is so much prettier, and I always feel a lovely sense of comfort and warmth inside the house when there is snow outside. Plus, snow makes for great photographs.
So, I grabbed Mum, Dawn, and my camera bag then headed out into the great white morning. Unfortunately, I didn't get far out of my neighborhood when I realized there was little snow elsewhere. We're lucky in the fact that we live on a big hill, on the outskirts of the city, where we get heavier snowfall in the winter and cooler temperatures in the summer. So, all that lovely snow we received was because we happened to be sitting higher than everyone else in the area. The minute we left the area, the snow disappeared. Bummer.
However, we decided to make the best of it and go for a little drive. Along the way, I noticed little bursts of purple, white, and yellow exploding from the ground. The crocus were making their presence known.
With the crocus blooming, it is certain the daffodils and tulips aren't far behind. While I love it when it snows, the color spring brings more than makes up for the loss of winter.

What a wonderful thing to have both in one day!
