Clam Chowder and Salad Day...

In my family, we have Clam Chowder and Salad days.  These days are cold, blustery days.  They are the kind of days when you step outside and are drenched by rain.  They are the kind of days where you want to crawl back under the covers and listen to the wind howl outside and rain splat against the bedroom window.  They're the kind of days when you never want to get out of your pajamas and want to wrap yourself in a blanket and sit in a big, over-stuffed chair next to the fireplace.

There is just something comforting and warm about clam chowder.  I'm not a soup fan, nor am I a stew or chowder fan.  However, clam chowder manages to hit the spot every time I have it.  And when the wind is howling and the rain is pouring, you don't mind that it is unusually cold outside because your warmed from the inside out by the big bowl of chowder.

Most of the time, when we celebrate a clam chowder and salad day, it is done at home.  However, I decided to take Mum and Dawn to a local cafe where we indulged in sweet bread, soft butter, warm clam chowder, and crunch salad.  Ahhhhhh.... lovely.
