Time to Breathe

Sometimes my little sister amazes me.  I'll be trudging along and she'll suddenly say or do something that is absolutely brilliant.  Not that my sister isn't capable of brilliance, but her kind of brilliance seem more like life saving moments for me rather than simple brilliance.  Yesterday was a perfect example.

I've been working very hard the past month on several projects.  All the work has resulted in little sleep, lots of stress, and moments when I feel like my brain is turning to jelly.  There have been few breaks except to cook dinner, sleep a few hours, and eat dinner.  During the Memorial weekend, I took a break from it all and worked out in the garden with the family, but the rest of the past four months have been spent indoors - in front of my laptop.  Not exactly a balanced existence.

However, yesterday - in a moment of frustration - I threw my pen across my office, plopped down on my office chair, and quiet contemplated how glorious it would look and feel if I picked up my phone and threw it against the wall (yep, it was a bad day).  However, Dawn saved the day.  She walked into my office with my camera bag hanging off her shoulder and simply said, "I want to go for a drive."

So we went for a drive.  We photographed flowers, bald eagles, and hawks.  And we got some great shots.  For example, while shooting this bald eagle sitting on the ground - another bald eagle flew within the view of my lens.

Then there was this hawk.  She basically posed for my camera.  And her gracious pose was matched by the fabulous sunshine - which has not really been seen since the Memorial holiday weekend.  And, of course, after our little drive we drive through a drive-through and celebrated our breath of fresh air with cherry slushies.

I love my little sister.  She gets me.

  1. I am so glad she is looking after you when you are stressed and I hope these projects start behaving themselves soon.
