Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I am so looking forward to 2013!  Do you have any plans for this year?  I have so much going on both personally and professionally, that it is a bit overwhelming.

Professionally, my plate is extremely full.  There is going to be lots of travel, meeting lots of people, promoting two books I've written and are being published, and even more work.  On top of that, I'm teaching several classes at three different colleges/universities.  Not to mention, I'm launching another business! Whew!

Personally, I have a few good things happening including moving out of the house I currently live in and into a different, larger house.  Me and my little family will also be essentially moving to the U.K. for several months.  But in all the activities, in all the busy-ness, I knew I needed something to anchor me besides my little family.  There is no doubt that I'm going to be burning the candle at both ends, so I need something mindless yet fun to keep me grounded and sane.  My answer? The ukulele.

I have this amazing fascination with the ukulele.  I've always wanted to play it.  So, this is my year.  This year I'm getting the ukulele and I'm going to learn how to play that puppy.  I'm firmly convinced that by Christmas time, I'll be playing Christmas carols on my little stringed beast.  I even found the ukulele I want and will buy it for myself as a Valentine's Day present.  Why not?

  1. I dunno how you do it all, Jack! I'm impressed! Well except for the ukulele thing. I don't understand the fascination. I just keep thinking about Tiny Tim singing 'Tiptoe through the Tulips.' Probably before your time. Youtube it. Well maybe don't. You might change your mind. But don't let me rain on your parade...if it's a ukulele you want; go for it!

    1. Mum mentioned Tiny Tim too, so I looked him up on the Internet. Not my kinda of ukulele playing. I'm thinking more on the lines of Zoey Deschanel ukulele playing. :)
