I haven't been tackling my genealogy research lately. Life is remarkably busy. However, I have been accruing quite the list of online resources, so I thought I would share a few with all of you genealogy researchers out there. Here are some from the freebie website files...
- Chronicling America (www.chroniclingamerica.loc.gov). This is a website from the Library of Congress which has digitized newspaper pages from a variety of states and an index to all newspapers published in the United States.
- Billion Graves (www.billiongraves.com). You can upload tombstone photos from your smart phone and access GPS-tagged tombstone images for your hunt.
- AfriGeneas (www.afrigeneas.com). This site is specifically for African-Americans searching for their roots. You can search marriage, death, surname, and slave databases.
- AfriQuest (www.afriquest.com). This site is another freebie site that provides a lot of valuable information on African-American genealogy and history.
- USGenWeb Project (www.usgenweb.org). I've talked about this website before, but I cannot talk enough about this website. The amount of information on this site is amazing and totally worth the days you'll end up spending on doing research from this resource.
- National Archives Resources for Genealogists (www.archives.gov/research/genealogy). This is a United States repository for most federal military, census, immigration, and other records.
