Organizing Cleverness

I'm in the midst of an organizing frenzy.  I'm trying to go through all the boxes and totes of stuff I have to determine what I need and how to organize it.  While looking for unique and easy-to-maintain organizing ideas, I came across these that I thought I would share...

I love this idea for the kitchen.  We have one of these shoe racks in the little room where we keep our "stash."  You know, when you go to Costco or purchase a bulk amount of items that you don't have enough room to store in the kitchen, bathroom, or laundry room, so you store it in a stash room.  They're all over the place on the TLC show, "Extreme Couponing."  While we're not extreme couponers, we do have a stash room and we use this trick to store little things like extra Jello boxes, extra gravy and spice mixes, and even candy bars.  You know, those little things that would normally get lost in the bundles of toilet paper or big jars of pickles.  I never thought to using this in the kitchen to store things like baking items (we have a gazillion wooden spoons and wire whisks).

The back splash in our kitchen is peg board.  We don't use it to its fullest organizing potential simply because there is little exposed peg board what with the toaster, canisters, etc.  But putting peg board in the inside panel of a door is a clever idea to put things out of sight but within easy reach.  Incidentally, peg board as a back splash is NOT a good idea.  It's very difficult to keep clean.  Our landlord was an idiot.

I love the idea of putting a decorate metal panel in a photo frame and use it to hang jewelry.  To me, jewelry should be seen - even when it isn't being worn - because jewelry in itself is art.  These decorate metal panels are traditionally used for radiator covers but they make a fantastic backdrop for jewelry display.

This is probably the most clever idea of them all.  I have seen a lot of great ideas to hang backs, jackets, and hates, but this one is probably the best and so simple to make:  wooden hangers, a strip of wood, glue, and nails.  Fabulous!  It would be the perfect addition to our laundry room.

What about you? Do you have any clever organizing tricks or ideas that you can share? I'd love to hear them!
