Easter at the Beach...

The family decided to go for a while along the beach on Easter.  Just a way of getting outside into the fresh air, getting a little exercise, and enjoying the sunshine while it lasts since it isn't suppose to last for very long.

What we didn't expect was the tide to be so low.  So low, in fact, that I was convinced I would actually walk out to some of the islands in the Sound.  And while I wanted to try, Mum pulled me back.  Bummer.

So, instead, we walked up and down the beach - enjoying the fact there weren't as many people at the park as there usually is on the weekend.

But I did spy quite a few heron - fishing for their Easter dinner in the low tide.

And actually catching a few choice pieces to nosh on.

There was also plenty of kites flying in the brisk breeze.

And there was plenty of evidence of Easter brunch with the piles of mussle shells littering the wet sand.

There were also bits of crab shell.  This little shell was just not enough of a protective barrier against all the heron, seagulls, and bald eagles that patron the park's seashore.  And, while I mourned the poor crab's loss of life - it did remind me that I had a fabulous shrimp salad waiting for me at home, so we loaded up and headed home.

Hope you and your family had a Happy Easter!
