Yakima Arboretum
While visiting relatives, we decided to get out of our hotel room and go for a walk. We had been couped up in the truck for hours so the last thing we wanted to do was be indoors. So, we decided to visit a place we had driven passed many times, when we were in the area, and see what it had to offer. We were so glad we did...
The Yakima Arboretum is a wonderful place to explore. While we didn't go into the Jewett Interpretive Center (it was closed when we were there), there was plenty of pathways to walk and nooks and crannies to explore.
The area was so green and lush - a stark contrast to the desert-like existence of Yakima, Washington. But, it probably helped the area was dotted with fantastic water features such as large ponds and mini lakes.
The trees - and there are plenty of them - provided the perfect backdrop to cool, spring scenes filled with chirping birds, waddling geese, and inquisitive ducks.
Even the weather vane was cool.
Every where I looked, there seemed to be a picture postcard view. Needless to say, my camera shutter was kept quite active as we strolled, explored, and dodged the occasionally cross goose.
If you're ever in the area, you'll definitely want to visit. Make sure you plan for plenty of time because before you know it, 2 hours will have passed and there will be more still to explore.
Happy Tuesday!
