One of the fabulous things about where I live is there is a lot of water. We live on the Pacific Coast where there are a lot of rivers, lakes, ponds, streams, etc. There is even water where there isn't suppose to be water.
Sure we get a lot of rain, but we really don't get as much water as many people believe. But what is wonderful about the water we do receive is that it is bursting with life and activity. Just driving around the flat lands that once had powerful rivers running through them, I see plenty of expected and unexpected life and activity.
This heron, for example, is an expected site. Ever present are also ducks, geese, swans, and other water fowl.
But these... These goats were unexpected. They managed to get themselves stuck on a little island in the middle of a flooded field. I watched as they continued to munch on the grass on the little island - completely oblivious to they're being landlocked. Fabulous!
