Art, Culture, and Community
We have several Native American tribes in the area I live in. One of the tribes, Lummi, has a reservation that I often visit because of it's amazing location. It was wetlands, bay views, and tall trees. There are amazing opportunities for me to take photographs at every turn.
However, the other day I was driving toward the ferry terminal when my eye was caught by a pole building. I've seen this pole building many times... Nothing very distinctive about it. That is until I drove by it that day. That day, I noticed a change.
Someone got the brilliant idea to take the side of the pole building and turn it into a canvas. An amazingly beautiful canvas that reflects not just art but also culture and community.
How wonderful is this? I want to meet the artist. I'm so impressed that someone stepped forward to create that amazing melding of art, culture, and community. I wish more people would follow this artist's example and create this kind of magic.
