Having sat in front of my laptop grading papers and do what I do in front of my laptop, I decided it was a good idea to get out and get some fresh air. So, I grabbed my little family and my camera bag - having a strong feeling I would need that camera bag. And I'm glad I did. Here are a few photographs I took...
This blue heron thought shelter in the tall grass would protect it from curious on-lookers; however, I managed to spy it in the swaying grass and snapped this image.
There were several sandpipers flitting around the mud puddles looking for their next meal.
And, of course, this Copper's Hawk was striking a pose. I say, "of course" because I had photographed a Copper's Hawk the previous day on this very pole. I would not be surprised if it was the same hawk.
Then there was this red tailed falcon. Looks like quite a brute, doesn't it?
And the granddaddy of all birds - the bald eagle. These two, most likely parent and child, were quite content to sit in the giant evergreen tree, sheltered from the wind.
Fabulous.
My goodness, where were you, to find all of these beautiful birds? I'm sure your hawk is the same guy...I've come to learn that critters are much like us; sticking pretty close to home. Makes me sorry for the seagulls I see at the garbage dump...fly away silly birds, there's so much more out there!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful birds!
ReplyDeleteGreat images, Jack! I especially like the one of the heron. They are so graceful. Love the contrasting angles of his body and the grasses.
